Parent FAQs
Imagine having acres of room for your kids to unplug from their devices, live in the moment, and simply be a kid. At LOMIK, there’s room to play hard, have fun, get dirty, explore, and try things they have never done before. It’s a place to meet new friends, stretch beyond their comfort zone, ask hard questions, and discover that they can be their true selves while being part of a community. Camp gives your child opportunities to practice problem-solving, make decisions, take on leadership, navigate differences, and learn how to work things out with others without an adult stepping in to solve every problem. Along the way, they’ll connect with people, build friendships, laugh a lot, grow in faith, and spend time with faithful young adults who genuinely want to know them, listen to them, and share life with them. At LOMIK, kids can unplug, play, grow, lead, get a little messy, and discover more about who they are and who God is calling them to be.
You are welcome at LOMIK! You don’t have to be Lutheran to come to camp. LOMIK is a place where children and youth from many different backgrounds can come together to have fun, build friendships, explore God’s creation, and experience a faith- filled camp community. We’re excited to have you join us!
Come to camp anyway! You don’t have to attend church to be part of the LOMIK community. Camp is a place where you can ask questions, explore faith at your own pace, build meaningful relationships, and discover what it means to be part of a caring community. You belong here, and we’re excited to welcome you to camp!
We want to partner with your family to help make camp possible for Your Camper!
The cost to send your child to camp for a week is $780. Through the generous support of congregations & LOMIK donors, we are able to provide an additional $250 per camper to help keep the cost of camp affordable for your family. We believe every child should have the opportunity to experience the adventure, friendships, and faith of summer camp, and no child should be denied a camp experience because of financial hardship. Financial assistance is available for families who need additional support.
When you register your child for camp, simply note you are interested in scholarship assistance and our Registrar will reach out to you about your specific situation.
LOMIK has the perfect opportunity for ALL of your children entering 1st through 12th grades to attend camp at THE SAME TIME! We also offer a multi-child discount after the first child’s camp fee has been paid in full (with or without scholarship funds) of $50 for each child in the family after the first one registered.
Everything is more fun with a friend! When you register for camp, campers may request a cabin buddy who is the same age and grade level. We’ll do our best to honor cabin buddy requests, although we cannot guarantee every request. Grab a friend, sign up for camp, and get ready for an adventure you’ll experience together!
Our camp staff & volunteers are more than activity leaders. They are Christian role models who strive to live out their faith each day. Pastors, staff, and volunteers are carefully selected and prepared to care for campers, build relationships, and create a safe, welcoming, faith-filled camp community. All pastors, staff, and volunteers complete background checks and training, with specialized training including lifeguarding, first aid, and camper safety practices. The summer staff also practice those emergency drills at camp before your child(ren) come. You can feel confident knowing your child is surrounded by caring adults who are prepared to lead, serve, and help make their camp experience safe, meaningful, and fun.
Camp begins Sunday afternoon between 3:00 and 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time for all residential camp sessions.
Story Squad Day Camp begins Sunday night with a kickoff dinner for the whole family at 6 pm with an introduction to camp during dinner.
Monday through Friday Story Squad starts at 7 am and concludes after dinner for the whole family at 6 pm each night with fun programs during dinner.
Day camp starts at 7:00 a.m. Eastern Time.
When you arrive, follow the signs into the camp property and look for staff handing out popsicles and maps welcoming you and your family. There will be additional signs for Check-In and the Health Officer as well as folks directing you to the cabins.
Everyone checks their camper in with our leadership team, then meets with our Health Officer to verify we have needed health information and review medications. Then you may help your camper get settled into their cabin and meet your camper’s counselor. Once you know your child is settled in make your way back to the welcome area and ask any remaining questions (like where is the best ice cream shop close to camp) to allow your camper time to meet their cabin mates and begin their week of adventure with friendship, fun, faith, and new experiences.
Call the main camp office at 260-667-7750 and the registrar will help you get in contact with your child.
Bad weather at camp can be a simple inconvenience like rain, extreme heat or cold temperatures. Which have minimal impact on the camp day or campers. For more severe weather, each camp is equipped with a weather radio and a year-round staff person assigned to monitor the weather. Some camp activities will be suspended due to weather including swimming, boating, hiking, and rock wall and zip line. All camp staff have been trained in emergency procedures including weather incidents. They will move the campers to the designated meeting location appropriate to the situation and keep them engaged in fun camp activities until the weather incident has been resolved.
Overnight Camp Pick-up is done as a group with all campers, staff and parents together on the last day of camp for your child. Families are invited to join us for our closing program on Friday at 2:00 p.m. Campers will have the opportunity to share some of what they experienced during their week at camp you may even hear a favorite song from the week.
For our youngest campers attending the short-week experience, the closing program will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m.
After the program, families collect medications with the Health Officer, check the cabin, the clothesline out back, lost and found, gather art projects and other camper creations, and take a few minutes to talk with their child’s counselor about their week at camp and receive a “My Week at Camp” sheet with some good talking points for the car ride home about what their week was like. Then it’s time to head home with new friendships, great memories, and plenty of stories to share!

We know that campers can form meaningful connections with their counselors, and we celebrate those positive relationships! At the same time, healthy relationships include safe and appropriate boundaries, especially between adults and young people. To help protect both campers and staff, LOMIK does not share staff phone numbers, personal email addresses, or social media accounts with minors.
Registration closes two weeks before each camp session, so be sure to register early!
A non-refundable deposit is due at the time of registration and is applied toward the total cost of camp. The deposit helps LOMIK begin preparing for your camper’s week, including planning for staffing, meals, activities, supplies, and other expenses associated with providing a great camp experience. Because these preparations begin well before your camper arrives, the deposit is non-refundable.
We understand that plans can change! If your child is no longer able to attend their camp session, please contact our Registrar at 260-667-7750 and provide your child’s name and the camp session they will not be able to attend.
LOMIK offers camp sessions on different dates and at different camp locations to give families flexibility when planning their summer schedules. If one session no longer works for your family, our Registrar can also help you explore other available options.
We understand that sometimes plans change. If you would like a refund of your child’s camp session, written notice must be received at least three weeks before the beginning of the camp session. Cancellations received by this deadline are eligible for a refund of all payments made, less the non-refundable deposit. Cancellations received less than three weeks before the camp session are not eligible for a refund.
If you have questions about your cancellation or refund, please contact our Registrar at 260-667-7750. We’re happy to help!
Your camper’s health, safety, and well-being are our top priorities. To keep you informed, a member of our year-rounds staff and/or our Health Officer will contact you if any of the following occur:
- Your camper receives professional medical care
- The camp doctor is consulted or called regarding your camper’s care
- We need your input to better support your camper with a behavioral concern, including understanding triggers or effective coping strategies
- Your camper develops a rash that worsens or requires ongoing monitoring
We believe that partnering with families helps us provide the best possible camp experience for every camper.
